Interests: Hegel; political theory and philosophy; history of political thought (ancient and modern); social theory; philosophy of the social sciences (the continental tradition).
Biography: I hold a D.Phil. in Politics from Oxford University; my thesis is on G. W. F. Hegel's "Phenomenology of Spirit". I also hold a B.A. in Politics and History (First Class Honours) from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London and an M.Sc. in Social and Political Theory (Distinction) from The University of Edinburgh. I have taught political theory and philosophy at various Oxford colleges as well as in the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education. I have also been a sessional lecturer in philosophy in the Faculty of Continuing Education at Birkbeck College, University of London. I have published articles on Hegel in such scholarly journals as the "Jahrbuch für Hegelforschung", "History of Political Thought" and the "Bulletin of the Hegel Society of Great Britain", as well as an article on Hegel and Foucault in an edited collection. I have also written numerous reviews of books. Moreover, I have presented my work at international conferences. My books include "‘Midwifery’ and Criticism in G. W. F. Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit" (Sankt Augustin: Academia Verlag, 2012) and "Plato's Political Philosophy" (Exeter: Imprint Academic, 2012). I am a member of the Hegel Society of Great Britain, Political Studies Association of the United Kingdom (PSA), Britain and Ireland Association for Political Thought, Hegel Society of America, European Society for the History of Political Thought, Internationale Hegel-Vereinigung, Association for Political Theory (APT – North America), the International Social Theory Consortium (ISTC) and the International Political Science Association (IPSA). Moreover, I am the current convenor of the Political Thought Specialist Group of the Political Studies Association.
