Interests: Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Speech and Language Technology Pronunciation training
Biography: Zöe obtained a first degree in French Language Technology BSc from the Centre for Computational Linguistics, UMIST in 2001 and a PhD in Informatics from the University of Manchester in 2006. As part of her undergraduate studies, Zöe worked as a research assistant in the Natural Language Processing Group at France Telecom R&D, Lannion, France (1999-2000). Since completing her doctoral studies which investigated the use of speech synthesis in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL), Zöe has worked as a language specialist in the Speech Technology Group at Toshiba, Cambridge (2006-2007), and as a research fellow in the Learning Sciences Research Institute at the University of Nottingham (2007-2009). Her research at the University of Nottingham focused on the development of pronunciation training software for learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). She joined the Department of Education in 2009 to work on an Oxford University Press funded Fellowship investigating EFL CALL.
